UPTON — Community Preservation Committee discusses Holy Angels emergency preservation as Special Town Meeting option emerges. The CPC reviewed potential emergency funding for Holy Angels structural repairs to the bell tower, roof, and trusses, estimated at $50,000 to $60,000, with the Select Board exploring a July Special Town Meeting to appropriate the money. Chair Mike Penko noted that full restoration would exceed $1 million and require an Owner's Project Manager threshold review.
In other updates, First Cemetery Repairs are nearly complete with $90,000 remaining to re-carve 24 damaged stones, and the Howarth Glen Boardwalk, a 95-foot project, is set for construction this summer. The committee approved previous minutes and a $3,000 voucher to TRC.
