CPC votes to request additional funding for Robertson Trail Bridge

Community Preservation Committee · Meeting of February 4, 2026

Upton CPC unanimously votes $35,000 additional for Robertson Trail Bridge. The Community Preservation Committee approved the additional funding request at its February 4 remote meeting after the bridge project faced cost overruns; the original contractor estimate came in $40,000 below the final bid. Chair Mike Penko had proposed seeking $60,000 from the 2026 Annual Town Meeting, but the committee voted to request $35,000.

The committee also unanimously approved $25,000 in administrative costs for fiscal year 2026. Member Katherine Robertson raised questions about whether a trail easement could eliminate the bridge's necessity entirely.
