Planning Board approves Mechanic St permit, backs grant applications

Upton Planning Board approves special permit for development, backs five grant applications. Chair Tom Davidson led the unanimous approval of a special permit for 47 Mechanic St, with the condition that the applicant secure gas company approval for a pipeline crossing. Board members Katherine Robertson and Ken Raye recused themselves; the 4-0 vote among voting members approved the project.
The board also unanimously supported five grant applications for community improvements: Fowler Street Culvert, Warrant Street Parklet, Transportation Chapter of the Master Plan, Ramsay and Risteen ADA Improvements, and Multifamily Design Guidelines. The board authorized $2,100 from professional services as grant-matching funds.
