Upton Cultural Council approves 250th anniversary funding, Shakespeare production

Cultural Council · Meeting of April 14, 2026

Upton Cultural Council approves $250 for 250th anniversary celebration and Shakespeare production grant. All seven members unanimously approved allocation of $250 to support the town's 250th anniversary celebration and authorized a grant to the Upton Historical Society for a Revolutionary War Encampment, offsetting $750 in costs split between cider makers and musicians. The council also approved an amendment to a 140Arts Collaborative grant application for a Shakespearean-like production scheduled for Kiwanis Beach in June 2026.

The council rejected a Upton Conservation Commission proposal for a Tulip Tree planting as insufficiently tied to the 250th anniversary milestone.
