Upton Cemetery Commission elects Phillips chair, adds new member

Upton Cemetery Commission reorganizes with new member Lisa Morton and elected officials. The board elected Edward W Phillips as chair and Morton as Secretary/Treasurer during Thursday's meeting. The three-member commission reviewed the new Cemetery Info Management System software and discussed Massachusetts cemetery law and Upton cemetery policies.
Members identified enforcement issues with plantings, shrubs, and brick enclosures not meeting guidelines and agreed to distribute policy copies and conduct a walk-through with the groundskeeper. The commission decided to contact families who purchased plots more than 75 years ago but have not used them.
