Historical Commission accepts new member, receives Heritage Park grant proposal

UPTON — Historical Commission approves new member, accepts Heritage Park grant. Chair Craig Weinfuss led the commission as it unanimously approved Lindsay Baker's application for membership. Treasurer Joan Burrell moved to accept a $7,000 to $8,000 grant from Peckham Industries for invasive species removal and native plant restoration at Heritage Park in partnership with the Metacomet Land Trust.

The commission will establish a "Friends of Upton Heritage Park" organization to maintain the park and plans to meet with the Select Board on the restoration project.
