Historical Commission designates 8 Maple Street for preservation
Historical Commission · Meeting of April 2, 2026
Upton Historical Commission preserves 8 Maple Street from demolition, advancing cemetery improvements. The commission voted unanimously to designate the Maple Street property as "preferably preserved," triggering state-mandated demolition delay following an application from Chuck Joseph. Commissioner Ed Phillips moved the designation; Chair Craig Weinfuss seconded.
In separate business, the commission approved cemetery gate installation and dogwood tree plantings ranging from $410 to $590 per tree from three local nurseries. The commission also unanimously approved modification of 150 feet of stone wall east of Mendon Street with a concrete replacement and stone facade overlay, per a proposal from resident Darryl Gallant.
